Our Purpose

To research and document the unique history of the area, which includes the ancestral Indigenous presence, the geographic features, and the effects that early settlement has had on the development of the area.<br />

  • The development of a History Portal, to identify and source photographs, books and articles on the life and times of the Coldstream Lavington area.
  • The development of downloadable tour maps, which include neighbourhoods, buildings, houses and monuments of interest.

Upcoming Projects

  • The development of an index of agricultural and industrial businesses, historical buildings, houses, and monuments including their photos, descriptions, and locations.
  • An index of the origin of street and road names.
  • A map of the area including prominent geographical features.
  • Possibly, in conjunction with local First Nations, the description of their ancestral land use and travel in the area.

Previous Projects

  • Roof replacement of the Vernon Preparatory School Chapel (1914-1966) which contains many important heritage artifacts. Funded by donations and completed in 2022.

Who We Are

The Coldstream Lavington Heritage Society was formed in 2019 by long-time residents who wished to record and preserve the unique local history and recollections of this area before they are lost.
